Oregon Kombucha Packaging Design
Oregon Kombucha makes a “make your own kombucha” kit that needed a packaging redesign.
The old label design (shown at the end of this post) called the product a “starter kit” which was determined through focus groups to be confusing – the average person doesn’t know you can make your own kombucha. The previous labels featured the logo quite large on an already-small label, using up valuable real estate. The new labels use a more compact version of the logo that actually makes the company name more legible. There was some confusion and curiosity among customers about what was included in the kit, so this was quickly summarized through graphics and text on the front. More vibrant colors with more contrast between them were chosen to differentiate flavors more visually. Finally, the small text on the old labels was either edited down or moved to the back so that the font size could be increased for better readability.
