On a national level, Oregon has received a lot of attention this year for the strength of our manufacturing industry for a few reasons. Finally prices for oil, a growing international middle class demanding increased pay, and the hassles of doing business on foreign soil have made overseas manufacturing less desirable. Also, in a (still) down economy, it hurts to see goods be made overseas. There’s an increased push to bring these jobs back to the US. Oregon has been manufacturing goods right here in the US all along and DC has been pointing to our state as an example for others to follow suit.
“Manufacturing Day” was October 5, 2012. I engaged Elaine Volpe of Keel Creative to oversee social media for my client OMEP and I designed some info-graphics to go along with her promotions for the week leading up to Oct. 5.
OMEP is a non-profit consulting organization that aims to help Oregon manufacturers respond to the challenges of competing in an increasingly global economy.
